Its a Golden Day

Today marks my 25th Wedding Anniversary. Wow quite a milestone for us. I sat down to write our love story and realize I don't have a big mussy lovey dovey story to tell. But the success of our union is a story in itself.

Richard and I met when I was nineteen and he was 31. I was going to college with plans to become a nurse. He was a successful contractor and owned his own home and plane. I was waitressing my way through college and he would come in every afternoon for coffee with his buddies. Soon I noticed he would come in for dinner once or twice a week. What was funny is my twin sister Lindy and I worked together and she walked over to Richard and said "my sister thinks your cute". How childish. But one night he asked me out. We started dating and he was not a needy guy. That was real hard for me to get used too and several years later I learned why, which is another story. Anyway we dated for nine months and decided to move in together. I would be lying if I didn't say I had big reservations, but thought I would give it a try. Well fate changed my life that day and I became pregnant. I was so conflicted but we decided to get married, and I thought that it was the right thing to do.

Once Richard committed to becoming a husband and father there was no going back. We had two beautiful children Garrett our oldest and Rachel ,our baby, two years later. I finished nursing school and started work. Richard was a hands on father and I could hardly pluck Garrett away from him. He made his work schedule work around what our children needed. He gave up everything for himself so that our children would have everything. He never missed a practice, game recital or cheerleading competition. Even though he was a very intense father, his kids came out as successful, intelligent, responsible adults knowing that their parents, especially their father, loved them unconditionally. He allowed me to travel with my friends while he stayed home a babysat the kids. When work was slow for him, he took over mother and father role while I worked three jobs. He was the first to praise me to anyone who would listen.

Once the children left for college, Richard took over all the cooking and grocery shopping. He cooks all our meals and spoils me by bringing me dinner every night and fixing leftovers for me for lunch the next day. He always cooks enough so Tommy and Candice have lunch too. He hasn't worked steady since may and now comes by to fix things at the office or to put gas in my car or just bring me a drink since he knows how hard I work. He continues to take care of me after all the crazy things I do to myself and encourages me to do the things I love like scrapbooking and photography. He supports my trip to Greece later this year and does not complain when I add a week to Italy to the trip. He still is not a needy guy and I probably don't tell him Thank You enough for all that he does for me. I am really spoiled.

Now Richards still is a little rough around the edges and if you really know him, you see right through that, but in the end he does need me and loves me more than he will ever admit.

So while we were never or have been crazy in love, we do love each other and I appreciate him more every day. So here's to 25 years

Wow, finally Friday. Been a tuff week for me this week. Recovering from my little lipo procedure while working sure has been hard. More pain than I expected, and I feel like a sausage stuffed into this compression garment. But I did it to myself so enough complaining.

Next week should be a little better with my sidekick heading off to Japan. Its nice to get a break. Tuesday will mark Richard and I's 25th wedding anniversary. WOW, can't believe we made this landmark. We will be heading to LA for my post-op appointment and lunch at one of the "dives" he has seen on his favorite show Diner's Drive-ins and Dives. A full report will follow. I have a long list of things I have to get done next week, so this weekend I hope to get some rest and relaxation. But may be kinda hard since we are hosting Nana's bday lunch tomorrow and I have to start getting my bedroom ready to paint as well. Oh well no rest for the Wicked!!! Happy Weekend.

Wow, God must hate me!

God must hate me. Yesterday was one of the worst days of my life!!!!! Getting older sucks and I hadn't seen FLOW in a couple of months. Thus god picked yesterday to let FLOW show up, in the middle of my little lipo pain/misery and compression garment. On top of that my best friend calls and says wouldn't exercising been easier? Needless to say I hung up. I relieved labor yesterday from 10 am to 5 pm every three minutes with the worse cramps I have had ever, similar to labor. UGH It took Lamaze breathing and a lot of tears to get through it, but today I am a newer woman. Hmm... Hopefully things will continue to improve today. Happy Saturday.

Well its getting better.

I had a little abdominal liposuction yesterday in Beverly Hills, a touch up from my tummy tuck in 2007. Pain is the only word in my mind right now. But getting better and will be back to myself by Sunday they say for Monday work.

Hope to get some scrappin done but now know it won't be today, nausea kicking in.

Saturday night was Nancy's fabulous and forty b-day party. While I am not allowed t post any unauthorized pics here are a few that I know are okay. We had a great time, and Richie is so disappointed that the stripper pole is not my next profession!!!

I guess I have to keep practicing!!

One Word

On Ali Edwards Blog today she posted this picture below:

This word art was made at Wordle, which I posted about last year here.

One word 2010 is her theme this year and her word is LIVE. My word is INSPIRE. I bet my friend Suzanne's word would be ENCOURAGE. So many people inspire me, in fact items inspire me such as the Sharri's Berries that I had today. It inspired me not to eat any more sweets today, but was reassured one chocolate covered strawberry is only 110 calories. So stop on over to Ali's blog and read some comments. Think of your word and work to use it throughout the year. TWENTY TEN is going to be GREAT!

Tomorrow I start teaching a Photoshop elements for beginners class at Simply Scrapbooks. This will be a stepping stone into my hybrid class I hope. I plan to have it as an open forum with questions and answers of "how to" instead of do this this and this and your done with your layout. Have to see how it goes with this type of format.

10 things I LOVE

Here is a sneak peak at the digital portion on my February Hybrid Class taught at simply scrapbooks. I thought would be about 10 things I love. Put together some word art and a text path for the students. I will be going over templates again as well. I had fun doing it, and getting only 10 things on the page?

Just Hunting

My husband loves to hunt and spent the past few days quail and duck hunting. His best friend Mike along at his side. Our dog Chole (coal) and Mikes dog Daisy have become fast friends with chole taking on the mothering role, snipping when she is tired of playing (typical woman). Richard always takes pics for me and loves to give me suggestions on titles.

This layout is of Daisy last weekend when everything seemed to click and off she went fetching her own ducks all by herself. I can't tell who is more proud listening to Richard, he takes this uncle thing seriously. There is a story behind the title that I wont bore you with, but needless to say, in our house and Daisy's, dogs are more than dogs, they are companions, best friends and FAMILY!!!!
This layout is the start of my goal to 52 inspirations. To do one layout a week for the whole year using Sue Cummings kit. It will jump start my year I think and help me tell more stories about myself I hope. I plan to incorporate this theme in some of my digital classes this year.
This is this past weekends quail and duck hunting. Hunting is so natural for a lab and reminds me that I too perform a few things that come natural.

Happy Place

Played in my happy place today. Worked on a couple of layouts from christmas, a few pages in Taryn's maternity book and a Pear-fect layout of my sidekick. All in all a nice day. Here is a peak.
