Comfort Zone

Girls day yesterday was eye opening. We definitely went out of my normal comfort zone. Nancy, Candra, Sara and I got together to scrap and one thing lead to another and this is what followed.
Boudoir pictures. Now I cant post most of them, but here is one that I especially like. It hides all my body parts. What I have been seeing and its even more evident now it the aging process is really hitting the circle under my eyes and its very hard to cover them up. That's the next thing I want to work on. Anyway we had a lot of fun and Nancy's pics rocked. Candra is so talented. While I learn more and more about my camera, what i realize is I don't have the eye. Candra does. Now back to working on some scrappin and picking up the house.

I won, can't believe it.

Earlier in the week I posted to my blog about customer service and Blue Moon Scrapbooking and my post was linked back to them. I love the store and the customer service was super impressive.

Well I won the 7 gypsies Binderie Punch kit above for my post. Check out the blue moon scrapbooking blog. Such cool ideas.

Arn't these so cute

Well its friday and I am off now to scrap at Candra's. I was checking out some of my favorite blogs and caught these little cuties on Rhonna Farrer's blog. They are made by Olive Juice & Co.

Aren't they soooooo cute. I popped over to Olive Juice & Co. They are kits to make the little squash pumpkins, ah bummer I just wanted to buy them as I will never make them. Oh well, I will just have to look at the pic. Yummy.

It's Duck Season

Most of you know my husband Richard is not working currently. His sole job it seems is to take care of me and to duck hunt. Not necessarily in that order. LOL. He did surprise me with two dozen chartreuse roses on Tuesday at the office. I asked what was this for, and he said so everyone else can look at them and be "green with envy" LOL.

Yesterday morning he took Chole and off he went to the club (duck club). He said he was the only one there and he shot his limit all mallards. What is also sweet is that he takes pictures for me to scrap and yes he has his own hunting scrapbook. Here is a pic from yesterday. That is Chole in her camo neoprene jacket (so she doesn't get cold and the reeds don't poke her) and the bounty.

Well off for my mani and late night with LA country cardiac cath conference. But will be scrappin with candra and Nancy this weekend so there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

Greece Here I Come, Ready or Not!

I have been waiting anxiously for the registration to open for Mykonos Greece with Cocoa Daisy. This is a scrapbook getaway with Ali Edwards, Karen Russell and Jenni Bowlin put together by Cocoa Daisy.

I had waited on anxious breath hoping I would get registered as there are only 75 students. This is a once in a lifetime trip. I can't tell ya how anxious I am, but I have to wait till next September to go :( At least I have a year to pay for it!! I am somewhat concerned that I have to stay in a room with a stranger, but as luck will have it I have been communicating with another scrapper from Seattle who is in the same boat and we will have this whole year to get to know each other so that will help alot!!!! She sounds like a great gal and I will be spotlighting her blog later so you can all meet her too!!

The trip has individual classes with the instructors and dinner with them. I also signed up to take a walking photography tour of Mykonos with Karen Russell and dinner with her that night, so that should be the bomb. I could go on and on and on, so I wont bore ya.

My plan is to go to Italy with my daughter the week before this excursion in Greece, so its going to be super special. My hubby is even talking about going to italy, can you imagine. But he does not know the special 25th wedding anniversary present I have planned for him (since he does not read my blog) which involves a hunting getaway, so I am sure he will stay states bound.

Yuk, back to work

Well back to the ole grind yesterday. Yuk. As I expected I had a office full of mail and lists and requests etc etc etc. Plus our day was just out of control. I hope today is better, Tommy will be out so I plan to go to woolgrowers for lunch and clean up my mess. It also means I dint have to go into work till 730 am . Yes!!!!! I posted my Maui book at the bottom of my blog and hope to finish my new york one next weekend. My carpal tunnel has come back so have to stay away from the mouse for everything but work, so will keep the post short and sweet. Sorry no pic, too busy today.

Customer service, a pet peave as my sister would say

My sister DeDe and I were talking recently regarding customer service. Many people and businesses have lost their customer service. When I am waited on in a store, eye contact or asking me how I am doing just seems to be gone. One place that trains their employees regarding customer service and the do's and don't is Starbucks. They always look at you, address you and thank you with a smile. That should be the standard. You should not talk on the phone or text while a customer is standing there, period. As most of you know I run a busy cardiology practice and try to coach my employees and customer service. Thou I admit, more patients are demanding and rude and its getting harder and harder to keep a smile on my face.

One place recently that impressed me with their customer service was Blue Moon Scrapbooking. I had ordered some prima flowers online. A day or so later, on a weekend, I received a call from Scott regarding my order and a particular item that was back ordered. He took the time to ask me what I loved about scrapbooking and what products I used the most. Lets just say I was impressed and will order from them again! Please check our their store, I have put a shortcut under sites I love and their blog is also great as well. In the day of the Internet, personally calling a customer instead of emailing them was refreshing and the personal touch unexpected.

So Beautiful

Finished my Maui vacation digital book and now going to try and finish my New York book.

This picture I put in my book, but it asked to be posted. Rachel is so beautiful in this picture. She is beautiful inside and out and I am very proud of her. She has done so much in her 22 years and I see that she will capture her dreams. I look at her and see the little girl she was and the woman she will become. Oh melts my heart

Well its not quite....

I had planned to do some more scrappin tonight, but I got hooked into some online lightroom and photoshop tutorial's. Thus I played with two pictures I took in Hawaii. First is an early morning sunrise shoot.

The second is a picture of my sister DeDe and Ken's renewal of vows in Hawaii.

I loved the effect on the photo and some editing of skin tones, which always bugs me. I also learned how to edit some of the lens blur to mimic a higher aperture when using different lenses. I hope you like. Now on to scrappin.

I'm Home

Got home really early this am. I am super duper tired and it seems my hubby feels he should spend the day with me since I have been gone. Sooooo will need to unpack and head off the lunch to try a new place he wants to try. Plan on spending some time scrappin tomorrow with Candra and stopping by a friends fall show for home accessories. Here are a couple more layouts I finished on the trip home. More to follow.

The last full day, home now

Our last full day came to an end last night. One last sunset picture.

We spent the last day in the upcountry. Its at the base of Haleakala and started with a drive through paia, Makawao up to Kula where we had a nice lunch at Kula lodge. You could see both sides of the ocean and a valley in between. (no pictures as my hard drive is full and i cannot download anymore pictures till I get home :( ) We then headed to the lavender farm where it smelled so good. Next stop was Maui Winery where I sampled and bought local pineapple wine. Yum Yum. Next on our adventure was Surfing Goat Dairy. The cheese they made was so good and there is some in my suitcase as we speak, good thing its cold in the plan hold!!!!

Lastly on the 40 mile trip home we a pit stop at Island paperie.

yes I had to stop and see all the neat tropical scrapbooking stuff.!!!!

Now off early today for home with a little layover in Honolulu. I should be back in my own sleep number bed by 1 am YES!!!!!!! I have had enough tropical paradise for now. Aloha

Day 6

Spent yesterday just hanging low. I had enough of the sand and I can only do so much shopping. The rest of the gang went kayaking and snorkeling. No pics as I did not go :( So I spend a good part of the day sitting out on the lanai reading and scrappin as I looked out into the palm trees and ocean. Very restful. Here are a few of the layouts I finished (14 in total only six more to go).

Today we are heading to the upcountry to see some farms, winery and goat farm!

Day Four

Yesterday started with Starbucks that my sister Lindy went down the street to get.

For some reason Starbucks tastes different in Maui! Maybe its the scenery!!

After breakfast, off went went to Lahina for some shopping. Our first stop was Hula Girls Ice Cream for a yummy cookie ice cream sandwich. I was assured there were no calories in this!!

After this we headed down Front Street with Rachel's mission: rose gold and silver toe rings like her Mama's

Mission accomplished and we headed for the car. It was stinkin Hot and muggy and while I love my sister Lindy to death, she does love to look in every store!!

Next on the agenda for LINDY was Maui brewing company. She LOVES BEER!

I hate beer!! It tastes yucky. So the closest you see me to it is this:

Root beer!!
Between Lindy and Rachel, they sampled four different kinds of beer. Our next stop was suppose to be cliff divers at black rock, but it started raining and the heat just zapped me, thus we headed back to the condo for a little nap, a little mai tai, a dip in the jacuzzi, dinner and bed (oops I did work and do payroll somewhere in there). Today we have no plans and I think I am going to stay at the condo and scrap all day while feeling the ocean breeze, the birds chirpin and a little rest. The day may end with ride up into the upcountry for a little adventure and rainbow picture taking.

Day 3

I am still on California time which means I arise around 4 am Hawaiian time and go to bed 8 pm Hawaiian time. Yesterday I took an early morning sunrise walk and snapped a couple of pics.

The day followed with more beach time. Tori, Savannah and Rachel spent most of the day in the water riding the enormous waves, while I spent most of the day in the shade reading and snappin some pics.

They day ended with a sunset cocktail cruise. Which despite meds, I was sea sick and spent more that half the time trying to to puke Ugh. Sitting here I am still rocking.

Well today we are heading to see cliff divers and let Lindy sip some Maui Brewing Company Beer. I am sure some shopping in between. Tomorrow the girls are going to take surfing lessons which means I will taking pics LOL. Suppose to rain here tomorrow :( Have a great Monday.
