They are .....

My son Garrett has grown so much this past year, graduating from college and stepping out in the real world. One big difference has been his girlfriend Heather. She is so so special. I think the truly get each other and bring out the best in each other. Its what inspired me today.

Today was a busy but fun day. It started with a little B-day shoppin then off to Shabby Girls to take some picks of Miss Trinity Rose Sutherland, who turned five today. I have decided to do a little quick 7 x 5 custom photo book for her of the pics I took and here are a few of the pages.

I next headed to meet my pal Debbie Sue for a combined B-day /appreciation day celebration.

We had a yumo salad and sangria at Moo Creamery then off for an hour Chinese reflexology massage, which was the BOMB. So all in all uneventful and relaxing. Hope to do some more scrappin tomorrow. Jeez the weekend passes too fast.

Fogo Di Ciao

Our adventure last night started with the Limo picking us up.

Both of my children, myself and my husband have Birthdays in July. So does Candice. We (Candice, Tommy and myself) decided to celebrate in style and take a limo to Beverly Hills for dinner at Fogo Di Ciao. A Brazilian steakhouse. It was a lot of fun, with drinking Jinga on the way.

Dinner was great and the chauffeured ride home was the best. A little champagne and a little nap.

I had a great time with my family and my two best friends.

Its finally Friday. I had a better week. My new nurse Taryn Watt started this week and she is doing really well and it takes a lot of pressure off me. Worked a lot on wedding layouts so that I could finish the book. It will be done by tomorrow.

I have been taking a free Jessica Spraque class and it has really put me in touch with textures. I played with this one tonight (after spending three hours fixing my big ass printer) It was fun and combines two textures and overlay. It was picture taken in Vancouver at the aquarium.

Well off to bed. Tomorrow I am going on a limo adventure with my kids, hubby and my best pals Candice and Tommy to LA for a bday celebration. So gotta get my beauty sleep!!

Appreciation Day

Today is my twin sisters 45th birthday and the 15 year anniversary of my 30th birthday (ugh). I stopped having birthdays 15 years ago and now have appreciation days. Today I am appreciating my sister.

Lindy (sow as we call her) is truly my other half. Polar opposites about everything, but strong and united when it come to each other. She is a GREAT MOM, and fabulous sister, and a person you would always want on your side. Happy Birthday SOW. (yes we are cindy lou and lindy sue, parents are really funny. She spelt her middle name sow when we were little and the nickname stuck)

Well I am off now to appreciate some pomegranate martini's, and my favorite item in the house (no not the shower massage) MY LAPTOP!

Texture my newest love

I am taking a free photo editing class with Jessica Sprague for two weeks. While it started off slow for me as most of the items were review, today it pumped up and we did textures. I had played with textures before, but today I discovered Flicker groups for photographers. Ooh La La there are hundreds and thousands of textures out there for FREE. Here is my first go at it.

This is a wedding album I promised to do for Sally Sue. She and her husband are like my children and have been good friends of my sons for years. Sally now works for me as my nuclear tech and I am going to love putting this album together. I think textures will be something I do in my August classes.

She is 22 today

Yes my baby is 22 today. Wow how time flies, it was just yesterday that she was born. Her dad and I sent her flowers as she is in San Diego doing an internship this summer. We really are proud of the woman she is becoming.

Rachel has from day one been a sweet, even tempered girl. As a baby, she hardly cried. She would laugh and smile with her little puffy cheeks. She was such a joy, and to date is so special to me. I know her future will be bright and she will find her prince charming and have "those twins" she so wants (crazy girl). She has her life planned out and I hope all her dreams come true. I love you Rachel. So so much!

Today is

Today is my son's birthday and it hardly seems like his birth was 24 years ago. But I can't help but think about all the other mother's whose sons won't be coming home to celebrate their birthday's. I stumbled across this video today while reading Karen Russells blog. I watched the entire 10 minute video with tears in my eyes and sadness in my heart. With everything going on in our lives, we soon forget those who protect our freedom and who fought the terrorists who killed so many in 9/11. So today, I celebrate my freedom, and the freedom my son enjoys while honoring those solders who have lost their lives, keeping AMERICA safe. Godf Bless America

She blows my mind

There are only a handful of people I look up to professionally. But this woman blew my mind the first time I met her.

Her name is Cheryl Ange and we get together once a year at the annual CSCA meeting. This year it was held in Seattle. It was quite different this year as many of our colleagues were not there. I always look forward to seeing Cheryl. She is who I want to be when I grow up professionally. Alas I fear I will never get there. She is funny, well spoken, confident and just plan groovy! She seems to excel in all that she does and I fear with the change in the economy we will drift away, just as our colleagues have.

When I found this Seattle skyline brush tonight, I new instantly who I wanted to record. I record my life with scrapbooking. Thus forever, those who look through these pages, will stop on this layout and see a woman who has impacted me more than anyone will every know. She leads by example and I am glad to call her my friend. She truly BLOWS MY MIND!

Thundercats Ho!

I needed to take a break at midnight from cleaning and preparing for the funeral Monday, so I sat down at my laptop and pulled up this picture of Garrett at age 2. He LOVED LOVED LOVED the thundercats when he was 2. Richard and I hunted all around town to get the thundercat sword that lite up. We fought the crowds and found one. We got it home and put the batterries in and it did not work. Ugh. So off we went to find another one. Luckily this one worked. Garrett would run around the house screaming Thundercats, Thundercats, Thundercats Ho!
Even today, he digs the thundercats.

I wanted to capture him in this moment and faded him into the background paper. By blending the thundercats into the a dark purple background, you cannot tell its pixelated. The end result brought a smile to Garrett's face.

So as I head off to bed in preparation for Van's funeral, my mind is full of past Memories or my children and of Van. Goodnight.

Oh So Pretty

I was super excited to shoot fireworks last night. Since photography and scrapbooking are my obsessions, I could not wait to take some firework pics this year. I studied online on how to do it, got a few tips from my pal Candra and off I went. My friend Nancy Carr invited myself and my bud Nancy to watch the fireworks from her house. We walked onto the green at Stockdale Country Club and layed out a blanket and watched all the pretty colors. Richard gave me a tripod and I set mind mind to taking some pics.

Here is the first one I shot (well really the third, but my lens cap was on for the first two, silly me)

And here are my other favorites.

Lastly I took a pic of cutie Trinity with her mom Nancy, boy I see the resemblance here.

I am scanning pics in preparation for the funeral Monday and came across a pic of Van (pa) and Daniel, Garrett and Rachel. I used the Tuesday tutorial from Ali Edwards blog and put together this layout.

I thought it turned out well and hope to do a couple more layouts tomorrow in time for the funeral. It is what I can do to say goodbye.

What I learned today

I had a couple of minutes and found a cool tutorial about altering photos in Photoshop Creative Suites. In looking through a bunch of pics getting ready for the funeral, I found this picture of Richard's high school graduation. For those who know both of them, see the striking relationship between Richard and Garrett. Wow, spitting image. Anyway Here are the before and after pics.

Love, Love, Love it.
