What I learned today

Or should I say last night. I wanted to whip up a baseball layout for my son's girlfriend heather. It needed a look. So I learned how to digitally pull up a corner and how to tear paper. Looks cool to me. Oh joys of learning something new. Can't wait till Saturday, I'm gonna learn something else. Yipee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahh Thursday, Ahh the weekend is almost here

Been super swamped this week. I have to admit that half of my work stress is no longer an issue. One big load off my mind. My partner in crime, Candy Cane is back to work, but still fairly immobile. But just seeing her face makes me happy and this week and next my other work half will be gone soooooooooooooooo there is light at the end of the tunnel. Had lunch with a friend today and will be starting some one on one digital classes with her. That should be fun. I have more ideas for my intermediate and advanced students come July.

My daughter will be home for the summer from college. I do not have any super exciting plans, but I do want to spend more time with her one on one. Us girls are going to go to Vegas at least once this summer, I also want to take her to the coast and mountains to take pictures. She is so photogenic and I really want to capture this summer while she is still available and not off starting her own life. I really have the urge to document the wonderful young woman. So I hope to take a few days off during the summer here and there so we can have a little fun and I can show her how special she is to me. The kick will be to leave dad at home! lol

Good News

I was sick home with an awful flu yesterday but spent most of the day worried about Candra. Good News, surgery went well and no cancer!!!! She should be coming home tomorrow and her mother is here to take care of her. That makes me feel a little better!!

Back to Reality

Well I am back home from Scrappin Away. I had a fabulous time and got all the layouts done that I took, plus a few for Nancy. Here are some of the ones I have not posted.

This is a one of my sisters and mother from last weekend. I have another layout I am working on that has my sister DeDe in the layout as well, I will post that when I get the finishing touches on it.

The Journaling says.
It started with....
Twins! A surprise for this mother of three.
A little sister followed 11 months later.
As young girls they fought terribly. But today
they are best friends, each unique in their own way.
Cindy is creative and a hard worker, never saying no to her sisters.
Lindy is strong on the outside but soft on the inside, she will do another asked of her
Lisa is comfort to the other two. Willing to open up herself and home @ a moments notice
Their mother filled their you with a love, pretty dressed, warm sweaters & oranges with no white stuff!

This is one of my favorites called She Gets Him. Its of my son Garrett and his Girlfriend Heather. The first time I saw them interact, I realized that " she gets him", she gets his moodiness and his love of food. She is something special.

A fun layout here. Three things put together with = Happy Cindy

This last one is a quick layout of the ferry ride to Vancouver.

One thing that was recurrent in most of my layouts this weekend was a lot of layering in little groups. It really worked for me this weekend.
Hope everyone has a great three day weekend. I must go and eat the yummy dinner my Richie made me. The pampering never ends LOL.

Her Hero

I am at Scrappin Away in Fraizer Park. I admit I have been reluctant to come for the past three years, each time Nancy asked me. But its been very relaxing, cool, perfect weather and a massage awaits me in one hour. Ahhhh. I am getting a lot done but cannot post everything right now. There are nine women here, half are quilters and are quilting and the other scrappin.

I just finished this layout. It's title is Her Hero. My little sister Foo Foo (lisa) is the baby and she and my dad are the closest. With fathers day approaching and a perfect shot from last weekend, my fathers 85th birthday, I couldn't wait to put this together. I think it turned out well. More to follow.

My other half

I was born a twin. She has always been my other half. Lindy and I (yes Cindy and Lindy) are not identical and we are polar opposites. We fought when we are young and have grown into the relationship we have now. She is fiercely loyal and will do anything asked of her. I know I only need to ask. She is particular and sometimes peculiar, but aren't we all? When we were growing up, we never thought of ourselves as a pair, we were two individuals who had their own friends and their own interests. Today we share motherhood, sisterhood and the love of VODKA! The bond we have is unspoken and solid. Death will be the only thing that will break it.

I just texted her and asked her to come mop my kitchen floor, two seconds later she responded okay see ya Friday morning. Wow who else but a twin would answer you so quickly. I have done a few things for her as well over the years that only a twin would do. (lets just say they are too private to post and most certainly involves my medical training) but when your other half calls, you answer no matter what it is. I'm lucky to get to experience this life with one who came into the world 1 minute after me. I love ya sow (yes there is a story behind her nickname, that's another story)

A Mothers Love

Here is the hybrid portion of my class I am teaching at Simply Scrapbooks Thursday.

As you recall, this is the digital version.

The students will be receiving both versions on Thursday. On the love version, I made a second one that puts the pic of Rachie and I on top for her book.

This will be another busy week I am sure with Candice gone still and work so hectic. I am looking forward to the three day weekend coming up. I will be heading to Scrappin Away in Fraizer Park with my Pal Nancy. I have some snacks packed and the Vodka in my suitcase. What else does a girl need!! oops maybe some pics.

Dont Put Baby in the Corner

Thats the most famous line from Dirty Dancing. It was written everywhere yesterday at the Pantages. The day started with the celebration of my niece Tori's 13th birthday celebration.

Tickets to Dirty Dancing. I love love love the movie. Like many of you, I know the words to the songs, can finish the lines. It is along the same line as Pretty Woman for me. I went in with excitement and could not wait to see the transition to stage.

Off we went, Tori, myself, Shirley and Rachie.

I love the refurbished theater. We had good seats and this was the first for Tori.

I would be lying if I said I loved it. It was good, it almost was word for word, song for song like the movie. But what I love about the movie is the strong, James dean character of Johnny. He had to have a little bad boy in him, had to be HOT and had to have the voice. This is where I was disappointed in the play. The actor that played Johnny was English. He tried to hide the accent, but it would come out. When it did come out he sounded just like William Shatner. I laughed out loud at one point because I expected his to say: there is someone on the wing... some one. Rachel looked at me and said why are you laughing. She just would not get it. So if you love Patrick Swayze in the original movie, then you may feel the same. Tori Loved it and can't wait to see another. She said auntie can we come see Legally blonde? I suppose we will as Pantages is so close to us, why not. The track down Hollywood boulevard was fun, but don't do it with a 13 year old. She did not know who Grace Kelly was!! My god I have got to educate this girl.

It is always fun to take a little walk in Hollywood!

Dirty Dancing

That's what I will be doing today. Not literally. I am taking my niece Tori along with my pal Shirley and my daughter Rachie to see the Musical at the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles. Love this old theater that was beautifully refurbished. I will have photos from this foray tomorrow. Happy Saturday. I know I am happy, got lots of sleep and now work today!!

Please let it be Friday

God, another day in the bucket thank God. My partner in crime, Candy Cane is down with a bum hip and is on bed rest, so its just me and the big man. No buffer between the two of us is so fun!. Does not leave a lot of time for fun, in fact no time as I need to do some work remotely. But wanted to leave you with a couple pics of my babies. They are so polar opposites. But I am so proud of them both for their individual talents and their success's as well as failures. I am using these photos for a class. I will post pics when they are done. Have a happy 2sday (stolen from the princess's blog)

Not Me Monday

While I have read the inspirations of the Not Me Monday blog for a while I have never participated as of yet. Seeing Suzanne and Candra sound off today I thought I would give it a whirl.

I did not tell Richard that the skirt I wore yesterday was "old" and I have not worn it in a couple of years when I just bought it on Saturday! I did not -not take a shower or wash my hair on mothers day, and just put on deodorant because it was mothers day and I could do what every I want. I did not fee Zoey Lou ice cream from my spoon Saturday night because she was sooo cute. I did not pay any of my bills this weekend because I lost track of time looking at online scrapbooking galleries. I did not tell Tommy that I was too busy with my family this weekend to get the invitation done instead of I had one too many Mimosas to start the invite. And I did not tell "the Princess that her blog was a "blogful" meaning tooooo long and I could not read all that everyday!

Hmm, this could be very therapeutic. I could go on and on, but I have to work on the Invite now!

Mothers Day

Happy Mothers Day to all those mothers I know. Both my children were with me this mothers day. They are both smart, funny and loving kids. I am so proud of both of them. Today I cooked breakfast for my mother and sisters. Was a table full and I had one too many Mimosa's. I did not scrapbook when my children were young and regret all the things I did not document, but I will try to make that up now. I also wish I would had written down all the little things that I remember of my childhood. One thing today triggered a memory.

My mother always cut oranges for me, getting off all the white stuff. To date I will not eat an orange unless all the white stuff is pulled off. Candice and Tommy like to have an orange at 3pm to give them a little boost to finish the rest of the patients for the day. Both will pull all the white stuff of one and give it to me. Today my mom made oranges with strawberry's. The white stuff is powdered sugar. Yum Yum. The first bite took me to our kitchen table and I was eating oranges as a little kid. Love Love Love them this way.

I hope everyone has a memory today. Happy Mothers Day.

P.S. Suzanne, this post was edited to avoid over sharing! LOL

Sweet Day

Today is pre-mothers day and we started the festivities early. Foo Foo is here. Not only is it mothers day, but ,my Dads 85th birthday weekend. Love this shot of Foo Foo and my dad.

I have a twin sister, Lindy. Yes Cindy Lou and Lindy Sue, but we call her Sow.

Her daughter tori is really a mini Cindy. She is super creative, loves to sew and scrap, but she also loves to hunt and fish. I am trying to convince her that the Hilton is much better than a campground but shes still young.

In honor of mothers day, I dragged my mom and sisters out for a picture. They are used to me insisting on pictures.

Rachie came home and we had some fun with rose petals.

With some smiling and hugging and some great food from Richie, this pre-mothers day was the bomb! And of course martini's were flowing.
Tomorrow my house will be full with the rest of the family. More pics to follow for sure.

The Sweet Smell of a Smile

Today was like most every other day at the office. Swamped. I physically do the job of three people. Friday's are especially busier as Candice is off on Friday's. My day started at 5:30 am and I hit to ground running. I took a couple minutes at 1 pm to throw some left over pizza down my throat when this arrived.

I have never received flowers in a box. It's so vintage reminding me of those old Marilyn Monroe movies where the leading lady would get flowers delivered in a box.

Of course being Martha Stewart Junior, I could not wait to open it up and I was not disappointed. These beauty's were inside.

Peonies are my very very very favorite flower. To me they are cross between a tulip and a Camila. I have never had any given to me, and find them rarely here probably due to the heat.
They smell so good and Made me smile from ear to ear. But once I looked at the card, tears popped up and I immediately dialed my Rachies cell.

Thank you Rachie! I am only the worlds best mom because you are the WORLDS most FABULOUS daughter!
