Well its over

Today was my last assignment for my 8 week camera class. I learned so much and I need to learn so much more and practice practice practice. Anyway, today I took bunny pics of my favorite trio of girls, the Sutherland's. This was my toughest assignment yet as the grass was wet, we had to add blanket and I felt a little off trying so hard to get the perfect shot, which in my tough opinion I did not, but some cute ones and it will push me to do better next time. Here they are for you to peek at.

Well off for some reading now. Not ready for Monday!

New things

Thank god it is Friday! Another rough week, but its the weekend and I have it filled with a bunch of activities! And you know it involves picture taken cause its my last weekend of my camera class so I have to get all I can! Tomorrow is my bud Candice's son's second birthday. I volunteered to ice the cupcakes. Of course I have never made swirl cupcakes. But I watched a u-tube video and here are the results:

I still need to put the Mickey toppers and sprinkles still. The only thing I think didn't come out as well as I liked was the consistency. I never made it before so until I was piping it out, I didn't really know. But I think it will settle some. I have vowed to keep on trying. My friend Candra is a pro and I am going to make some with her next to learn from the pro. Well stay tuned for some special photos ( I hope) on Sunday.

Hump Day

Okay, I don't know what has happened in March, but work has been horrible. Swamped, too busy to think or get everything done. My office looks like a tornado hit it! Right now its crisis management. Who ever or what ever is screaming the loudest, I do! I have been so busy this week that I almost forgot to get payroll in, boy my employees would have flipped at that! So as hump day comes to a close, I will leave you with another pretty pic of my favorite bubble princess.

Picture Day

I am on my next to the last photography class assignment. The assignment was to do portraits or candid shots of cooperative subjects. So I picked the Sutherland Girls. They are more cooperative than my dogs, so I thought no big deal. I crawled and rolled around their living room this afternoon and think I learned three valuable things. 1. Watch my aperture as some of my shots, the focal point was too narrow causing some of my subjects to be blurry. 2. Keep an eye on my ISO and white balance, check my LCD screen more frequently. 3. Lastly- I am so glad I do not have three kids under the age of 7!!!!! I am too old for that. I hope you enjoy some of the shots. But after looking at 100 pics, I am all confused on which twin is which Help Nancy!

Saturday, thank God

Thank god it is Saturday. I am sooooo tired. For the past three weeks, my work has been so busy and stressful, to the point of almost being unbearable. Candice, Tommy and I really have been feeling it. Top that off with bringing my father in law home from the hospital and dealing with arranging 24 hour care and his noncompliantness, I really need some time to myself. So I hit my happy place and completed a baby book for Candice's sister Natalie. She is having a baby boy and I think it turned out cute. I have only to finish the cover and it will be done.

Well I am off to finish reading this weeks camera class lesson as I am heading to Nancy's house to use the twin's and trinity as my subjects tomorrow. Happy Sunday!

The three amigos

For those who know me well, you know who these two people are. For those who don't, let me introduce you to the three amigos, my partners in crime, my best friends. We make a pretty fierce team. Without each other we would be lost in the shuffle, but together we try to keep each other sane Our work day is so stressful now. Uncomfortably stressful. When one of us is gone, the other two always picks up the slack, but feel off kilter. We also know how to push each others buttons and how to read each other with just a look. Both Tommy and Candice would hate to have their picture on my blog, but they never read my blog anyway, so who is going to tell them?

I forced them to take this picture today, for many reasons that I wont get into, but they know how I get when I set my mind tosomething, so they just gave up or humor me as I like to think of it.

One thing I can say, is they are my best friends! Each knows me completely, and I need them both very much. While today I wanted to just walk away from all the stress, I couldn't because I could feel them holding on for dear life, knowing they need me as much as I need them. I love you guys, my best buds, my amigos, my friends. Together we are truly The Three Musketeers- All for one and one for all!!

Water, we all need it, and it seems everyone must have bottled or purified water. I of course, will drink anything, bottled or right out of the tap, makes no difference. In my house thou, my animals love our purified, aerated water fountain. I have had a petmate water fountain for three years, it filters the water and circulates, oxygenates the water. It is suppose to encourage cats to drink more water, promoting health. Well our current fountain is on its last leg, and we bought a new one. This time we purchased a drinkwell fountain as it has a two layer filter system to keep hair away from the pump, which is the biggest problem with our last one.

Well Richie got it working and you know who (roaree), jumped up and began to drink. I grabbed my camera and took this shot. Love it, the only think is the white balance is a little off (you would think i was taking a class), but over all super shot I think.

So I end my very stressful day with a pretty shot, that makes me feel like I did one thing right today!

This weekend's camera assignment was about lighting, Direct, indirect and indoor. I showed you my indoor one yest. Here is another couple that I really really like. One thing I have to say, shooting pictures in the RAW gives you a lot more flexibility and the colors are so much more vibrant and you can do a lot more with them. The downside is that you have to have photo editing software to see them. I have been shooting in the raw and jpeg mode, which gives you both, but takes up a lot of room on your card. The bright colors are fun and springy. The last photo has some shadowing, but still like the pic anyway. Have a great Sunday.

I look so forward to Saturday, sleeping until I wake up, putzing around the house, scrappin a little. Today I trotted over to my twin sister Lindy's house and used her daughter Tori as my cooperative subject for my photography lesson. I still need to process those images as I am now shooting in the RAW, (not to be confused with in the buff). Prior to jetting to sow's house (long story but we call lindy Sow) i stopped to take a photo of Bitty Kitty (chipper is the name I gave him, but Richard changed it to Bitty Kitty). I say photo, but should have said 20 photos. This weekend our lesson is on lighting. Well bitty kitty was inside a box, playing with the paper. Inside of a box is dark. So taking everything I have learned, I kept adjusting settings till I got it right.

While the tones are a little gold, its a great shot inside a dark box of a uncooperative subject.!! I just patted myself on the back.

More of my pics from today tomorrow with hopefully a couple of layouts. I took some of my daughter Rachie that I really like as well as several of tori that I love as well. On a side note, Tori is learning how to sew and is doing well. She sews as part of her 4H projects and today was fashion fair. She won the gold medal for her aprons. I took her with me this morning to stop of Strawberry patches to get some Minky to make a couple of camera lens sacks and to cover a pad I am putting in my new rolling tote to protect my laptop and camera. She went nuts in the store, looking at all the colors and fabrics. She wanted to make a small quilt, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE suzaanes burpee pattern. So three figures later, she had her stuff and enough to make a burpee cloth too. What was funny is we stopped at Joanns on the way home to get a foam square and she was looking at the fabric, she looked at me and said "the fabric at strawberry patches is so much better, feels better. I looked at her and said to myself, your mom is going to kill me. Oh well, I turned to her and said when I do anything, I use the best. You put a lot of effort into the projects, and using quality does make the difference, learn that now. Somehow I know this is going to come back and bite me LOL. I don't visit strawberry patches enough, just walking in the door today put me in a good mood. Its full of inspiration. I told tori, you have been inspired.! Plus a girl can never have enough Minky!

Friday, Thank God!

I am sooooooooooooooo glad it is Friday. I have really had a tough week. Last week was kinda tuff too. Not liking the stress of my everyday life these days, but it's Friday and tomorrow is another day. I can't wait to sleep till I wake up tomorrow and spend time in my happy place and working with my camera this weekend. Getting a cooperative subject may be hard, but I just got another new lens and can't wait to play. So I am off to have a Margarita with my Rachie and Richie. Tomorrow is another day!!!

Too swamped today, just a couple of minutes to spring up my blog background. Still need to work out some bugs with the sides, but oh well there is always tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great week.

Been busy today doing my parents taxes, visiting sick in laws, posting my camera assignment, working and finally completing a couple of layouts for a friend. In doing so I put together this word art and wanted to share. You can download a free copy of this word art here. Hope you enjoy it. I love the vintage feeling of this little quicky layout. Monday proves to be busy and stressful for me, but I hope to get a couple more hours to create.

Who knew?

Last night was a family dinner at Woolgrowers. I love love love woolgrowers and Bakersfield is the only town I know that has basque food. Its served family style, starting with soup. Of course I took my camera and could not stop shooting little Addison eating soup or should I say wearing soup. I love the little joy on her cute chubby cheeks. I just want to kiss her all over, soup and all. This was another quick layout I did by just cropping the photos, just as I did the twins a week ago. When you print this out, the 12 x 12 large title page turns out spectacular if I do say so myself. No photo editing was done. I should have changed the white balance but love them anyway. Goodnight.

Taking care of me

This week is just as busy and full of pressure as last week that I find it very hard to get a minute to jot down my blog for the day. I also feel compelled to post a picture with everyblog, which I cant possibly do all the time. But this morning is my "nail day" and it got me thinking that everyone needs to take the time to take care of theirself. When I graduated nursing school 20 years ago, I started getting my nails done once a week. This little "me time" started a friendship that to date has been the longest one I have had. (not counting my sissy's). I just connected with Debbie. She is a lot like me, we say what we think, we do not show pretend emotions and we like to explore new places and laugh. My husband recently said, if the economic times keep worsening you may need to cut out your "pampering" I replied, I will go without a meal a day to keep getting my nails done. It's cheaper than therapy! I also pamper myself with twice a month massages, once a month pedicures, waxing every six weeks and my hair done every six weeks. So I guess I may have to cut out one or two of these should my finances change, but never will I cut out my nails

Why Monday, why not Sunday

Monday, I hate it. Last week was so busy, more busy than usual, along with illness in my house and too many patients, I just needed more time off. This weekend went too fast and I did not get enough done, all that I needed to get done. Darn it. I thing to stimulate the economy, we should have three day weekends. More people off, spending more money. Well that's a novel idea, but don't see it in my future.

This weekend was filled with trying to take care of a father in law who has failure to thrive and had to go into the hospital for an infected foot as well as a mother in law who has dementia. Its like having kids again. Coupled with doing my taxes and back to the hospital today, I only had a couple of hours free today. I am helping my pal Candice make birthday invites that are Mickey Mouse in theme and require a lot of gluing, in fact I am only half done with my part. But they are cute and will be worth it. I also helped with Baby shower invites for her sisters baby shower. This one was all digital and I layered the elements to make it appear that there is a vellum overlay. I thought it turned out nice.

Lastly, my camera class was on a one week break and starts up tomorrow. I am loving this class, my new camera and my new lens. In fact I just ordered a new wide angle zoom lens to complete my bag. I look forward to showing you some more pics hopefully next weekend.

So if this week ends up like last week, then I will be posting Saturday!!
